I’ve been to New Haven thousands of times over my lifetime, especially with having grown up in the New Haven area. But despite having traveled through the streets of the Elm City and devouring Pepe’s, Modern, and Sally’s several times, there are many things that I didn’t know — including the many haunted spirits that are permanently attached to the city.

I recently was offered a ghost tour of the Elm City by U.S Ghost Adventures and the experience shed some new light on the same place I have called home for most of my life.

Nicole was our guide for the evening, and she came prepared with stories. The tour, which lasted an hour and a half (we had the expanded version), took us to the Shubert Theater, City Hall, and Union Apartments. Nicole guided us through each location with stories spanning the centuries that were both entertaining and informative. I thought I knew New Haven, but I was wrong. This tour made me really take a look at the city and realize that there are so many stories about this place that I’ve been to my entire life.

The New Haven Ghost Tour is one of the many cities that are a part of the U.S. Ghost Adventures. Currently, Connecticut has three: New Haven, Hartford, and Mystic. There are tours in about 190 cities to date, and even have tours of infamous haunted house in America that leave you feeling bone chilling.
I was given the opportunity for a complimentary tour, and let me just say that I truly enjoyed my experience. I was given the full experience with expanded stops and the EMF rental for the tour. I personally enjoyed having the EMF reader, because I thought it was really fun to see it go off during different points throughout the tour.

Honestly, I think this tour is a great experience for those who are traveling and want to learn more about the city that they travelled to; however, I also believe that there’s something to be said about taking a tour of the city you’ve known for your entire life. Ghost tours are not limited to Halloween season. They are great for year round, and are a great adventure for bachelorettes and for a fun night out. And I think U.S. Ghost Adventures truly does a fantastic job with mixing horror and fun. Their prices are fairly reasonable for tours, and the add ons such as extra stops and EMF readers are fairly reasonable as well.

I am very fortunate to be teaming up with U.S. Ghost Tours to give my readers a code so they too can experience the New Haven Ghosts firsthand. Use the code NUTMEG10 to get 10 percent off of a tour, and sign up by going here or here.

*Author’s Note: I was given a free tour in exchange for an honest review by U.S. Ghost Adventures. All opinions are my own.
