R&M Cutlet Company has got the little Italian deli on the corner (if you know, you know) down to a science. From the decor of famous Italian faces such as Tony Soprano to Ol’ Blue Eyes to the names of the items on the menu (Goombah and How You Doing?) just to name a few, celebrates Italian pride by food and flavors. Oh, and don’t forget the jars and jars of seasoned Italian vegetables that are available for purchase as well and the fact that one of their sandwiches is named after Luca Brasi from the Godfather.

Growing up Italian American, for me this is everything that screamed “home” for me. The cutlets in their sandwich, are thin, tender, and flavorful with a little crunch as you bite down into them. They are cooked to perfection, and everything that I’ve had (I’ve visited a few times), tasted fresh and delicious. And with their generous portions, I can assure you that there’s enough for at least two meals. I’ve had their sandwiches as a lunch for two days in a row, and it stays beautifully.
But don’t be fooled by their name. They serve way more than just cutlets. Their menu offers sandwiches with their signature cutlet, eggplant, or grilled chicken. And of course, since they are a deli, they offer cold cut options as well. They are open until three everyday, and are the perfect option for lunch.

Now, the sandwiches. There are so many of them to choose from. Of course, there’s the old school Italian options with the cold cuts or the parm. But they also have some newer options, such as the Goombah (cutlet, tomato bruschetta, fresh mozzarella, arugula, basil pesto, extra virgin olive oil, and a balsamic glaze), a taste of Italy (meatball and sausage combo parmesan style with pesto), and Hail Ceasar (cutlet, chopped Caesar salad, and shaved parmesan cheese). And those are just the many that this place has to offer, as they have monthly specials as well. May’s is Cinco de Cutlet.

Making a decision on what to get is incredibly difficult.
What I really like about this place is that the fact that every sandwich you get comes with a ton of options. For instance, you can replace the chicken with the eggplant (which is also really delicious) if you’re a vegetarian or grilled chicken if looking to be more health conscious.

Other than sandwiches, R &M Cutlet Co. offers a ton of different hot specials that are authentic to the Italian roots. Noni’s Meatballs that taste like just like my grandmother’s did, and Chicken Marsala are some of the items that frequently pop up. This makes it so easy to just take and bring home especially on nights when cooking is the last thing that we want to do.

The nostalgia and the tradition is what originally attracted me to R & M Cutlet Co, but what inspired me to return was the delicious flavor and value. Yes, the sandwiches are kind of expensive, but when you factor in the fact that you’re getting a lot of bang for your cluck (see what I did there) and you get a few meals on it, for me it is worth it. These guys have brought the traditional Italian deli to Milford, and I am sure that it will me in my takeout rotation for many lunches to come. And I’m sure if the Sopranos was still on air, there will be a scene or two filmed there and Tony Soprano would approve of these sandwiches.
