Feeling A Bit Like Scrouge? Here Are Some Ways to Get Into the Holiday Spirit

Happy holidays! Now that December is in full swing, it’s official. The holiday season is among us. However, if you’re feeling a bit like me this year, you’re probably not in the holiday spirit. So, here are some fun ways to get into the Christmas spirit and truly celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

  • Read holiday books:

I love reading a ton of holiday/Christmas time books this year. My personal favorites are One Day In December, What Light, and Let It Snow. I am currently reading Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. Reading holiday themed books are awesome, because it gets you in the holiday spirit, and promotes self care by getting you to read. That is, if you like reading as much as I do.

  • Eat holiday treats:

The best part about the holidays is of course the food. Part of their appeal is of course the fact that they are only out this time of year. So, indulge in your favorite treats. Drink a peppermint mocha. Eat a ton of holiday cookies. After all, calories don’t count during the holiday season.

  • Drink out of Christmas mugs:

I love Christmas themed mugs. I have a huge collection of them, and every time I use them, I am instantly put into a good mood. So, break out your favorite Christmas themed mug. Or, if you don’t have one, head over to your local TJ Maxx and pick one up.

  • Watch holiday movies/shows:

Finally, a simple way to get psyched for the holidays is just to watch a good ol’ holiday movie. Whether it’s Charlie Brown or a Hallmark movie, there is something for everyone. So, put on your PJs, pop some popcorn, and make yourself a cup of hot cocoa. Nothing screams holidays like curling up and just relaxing.

These are some things that have worked for me in past holiday seasons. I hope they work for you.
