For the past three years, Mia Sheriden’s Archer’s Voice has been sitting on my TBR, a recommendation from both Booktok and booktubers I follow. It took me three years to pick the book up, and now I am not the same. Archer’s Voice is the first of the Where Love Meets Destiny trilogy, but it can be read as a standalone novel.
The book opens up with a flashback of seven-year-old, Archer Hale getting ready to run away with his mother and his “uncle” Connor. The flashback ends, and then goes into present day, where Bree enters his small town of Pellion. Bree is fleeing her traumatic past and her father’s death. She is intrigued by Archer, the silent recluse, and learns to communicate with him via sign language.
The story slowly flows into one of the most beautiful love stories that I have read as of late, leading readers into the ultimate emotional rollercoaster that they are hanging onto dear life. At least, it did for me. I could not get enough of the story. I can’t think of two people who deserve as much happiness as this female main character and this male lead as these two do.
There was so much conflict when it came to this story. Archer learning the truth about what had happened between his father, mother, and uncle. Bree opening up to Archer and dealing with the investigation of her father’s death. Travis, being a sore loser after losing Bree to Archer. All of these were so well executed by Sheriden and were the perfect side stories to the main event, which was the love story.
Now, the love story. Oh. My. God. First and foremost, Archer was one of the best book boyfriends that I have ever read, and I’ve read a lot of romance novels over the years. There were so many swoon-worthy moments when it came to the two of them. The love story alone is a good enough reason to pick up this book.
This love story, though, was not just sweet and I’m not talking about the trauma that these characters went through. This book was spicy, but not in a raunchy way. Yes, they were detailed, but they were almost like an expression of passion and a common language between the characters to express how they felt about each other.
I cannot stop talking about this book. In fact, I can already see it as being one of my favorites that I’ve read this year, and it’s only February. It is rare that I read a book that leaves me in my feelings, and this one did just that. I cried. I swooned. I was– and am obsessed with this book. To have that much of an intense motion leaves me no choice but to make this a five-star read.
So yes, BookTok was right about this one. And as we enter this week of love with Valentine’s Day coming up, I highly recommend picking this one up for the ultimate love story.
