Penny Linn Designs Is Very Much Worth the Trip to Norwalk

I am very much new to the needlepoint community and to needlepointing in general. In fact, I’m still working on finishing project three and the only stitch that I know is continental.

However, I have already found my local LNS, which is just a half hour away on 95 — Penny Linn Designs. Penny Linn is located in Rowayton and if you’re in Connecticut and looking for anything related to needlepoint, it’s the place to be. And this is true if you’re a seasoned needlepointer or someone like me who is dipping their toes into it.

Penny Linn has been around since 2020. Their founder, Krista, is a retired blogger/influencer, and she’s turned her passion for needle pointing into a full fledged brand.

Now, Penny Linn has an incredible website and online presence with a ton of canvasses to choose from. Their canvasses are modern, whimsical, nautical, and there’s something for truly everyone. Despite them being a half an hour away, I myself am drawn to checking out their store for a number of reasons. The first being that their selection is so much more massive than their online store is. They often have many canvasses and materials that are sold out online, making it easy peasy to get the canvasses you like right away. Plus, they have walls and walls of canvasses, threads, and tools that you can literally get whatever you need to get started.

Further, their website is not full of sales, but great with resources as well. They have tutorials — both video and step by step — so you can work on your project with the very tools that they provided you with.

For me though, the best reason to go to Penny Linn in person is the staff themselves. As a newbie needlepointer, I’ve been going in blindly. Yeah, I crochet and I’ve done embroidery, but that’s a lot different than needle pointing. In the three times I’ve been to the store itself, I’ve had nothing but incredible customer service. They guided me to whatever I needed. They answered my questions. And they of course, helped me “kit” (match threads to the canvass) my projects. This is something that Amazon can’t do. This is also something that YouTube can’t teach. I always walk away feeling excited and creative than I when I entered.

Penny Linn’s tagline is that they redefine needlepoint, and I do agree. I think they make it that it’s easier than ever before to start and make it accessible for everyone. They also make it interesting for people to begin. They have canvasses from TV shows, to location to occasion that truly makes it something for everyone.

I’ve watched so many videos on TikTok and Instagram stories of people who flock to Rowayton from New York and all around. At first, I didn’t understand the appeal of going to Penny Linn the store. That is until I walked to the store itself and I thought, yeah, I get it.

After all, how lucky am I to call Penny Linn my LNS?

Thank you Penny Linn for introducing me to yet another hobby, and for helping me begin my needle pointing journey. I’m sure this is the beginning of a wonderful, wonderful relationship.

My favorite canvases include the: Jack Russel Terrier, Audrey Hepburn, and Ralph’s Coffee. Many of these are in and out of stock, and so I recommend going on the waitlist. Furthermore, these are affiliate links through ShopMy, where I gain a small percentage if you use these links to purchase something.
