Just over the Arrigoni Bridge, Savvy’s Swap in Portland sits right on Main Road. The tiny shop is nestled next to the Brownstone Arch, and has a huge selection of treasure of anyone’s stylistic taste.
Size is deceiving at Savvy’s Swap. This tiny shop is stocked full of treasures — designer, quality brands, and trendy. They are beautifully organized, almost as if you’re going shopping at your local boutique. In some ways, it is — but the prices are so much better.
That organization is one of the things that when I visited, I was so impressed with. One of the things that overwhelms me about secondhand shopping is the fact that I get overwhelmed so easily with the huge amount of stuff and the amount that I would have to dig through. Not the case at Savvy Swap. Shoes are organized by size and color. Clothes are organized by brands, and by type. Jeans? There’s a rack for that. Lululemon? Also a rack for that — and that’s where I darted to if I’m going to be honest.
Their sale section was where the real hidden gems were. Vintage sweaters, designer jeans, and more could be found there. I managed to score a pair of Everlane pants in excellent condition for a quarter of the price.
I attended one of their Sip and Shops with my friend Marisa, and I enjoyed the experience. Marisa and I both have different styles and we both are different size, but we both were able to walk away with a stellar find.
What drew me to wanting to attend the event was the fact that on social media, their selection always looked like there was something beautiful and unique awaiting when you walked through their doors. And I would say that I was 100 percent right. I am so glad that I was able to attend the event, and that I got to check them out. The staff was so nice and helpful and were great to just with. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — it felt like I was shopping in a high end boutique in Westport or Greenwich.
While Savvy Swaps is about an hour drive away from me, I will say that it’s 100 percent worth the drive. However, if the drive is not up your ally, there are ways that you can still have their experience. Overall, Savvy Swaps is worth the trip, worth exploring, and definitely has an amazing selection of clothing for any kind of style. I’ll definitely be back again in the future.
